Nooby questions

If i have a ring of kalonia on a creature, gain some +1+1 counters and then re-equip the ring or have it destroyed, does my creature still keep the +1+1 counters?

Also, Am i right in saying that i can pay the equipment cost to move an equipment from one creature to another?
