Rumors in the workplace getting me very worked up...
My anxiety usually centers around things i cannot control. I'm not a controlling person (at least I don't think I am), but anytime something out of my control happens or something that i expect to happen changes suddenly, I start to panic and expect the worst.
I am currently on a temporary assignment from my normal job. I love my new job and going into it I knew it would only be for five weeks, but with a possibility for extension. Last week, my new manager told me that I was getting extended through next month, which I am very happy about.
On Friday, I received a text from one of my new work friends asking if it was true that my extension was denied by my original workplace. This was news to me. It was the first time I'd heard anything of the sort. I didn't even know my original workplace could deny me. So, I first started freaking out about the rumor. How did this person hear something like that when I had not heard anything at all? I started e-mailing my original managers, who had not heard anything about the extension in the first place. I found out that two people have the ability to deny my extension based on my original workplace's scheduling and staffing needs. But I feel there is no need to bring me back. There are plenty of people to staff at my location. They aren't missing me.
Now I've been a nervous wreck all weekend about it. I have no control over whether i stay or have to go back. I want to stay. I expected to stay. I have not heard anything official yet. I might find out something tomorrow. So, as usual, I am preparing for the worst and working myself up. It's driving me crazy.
TL;DR: rumors started at work about my original job location denying me an extension at my temporary assignment. So now i'm expecting the worst and freaking out about it. :-(
