What's something you've done in the past or do regularly that people don't appreciate you enough for?
My bedroom growing up was right across the hall from my parents. The rest of my brothers lived on the other side of the house. I used to have to bear earwitness to every argument - all the hurtful insults and even more heart-wrenching secrets (since I'm not using a throwaway, I won't go into details. But you can imagine the family-shattering stuff I'm talking about).
I never confronted them about it. I never told my brothers, never vented to a friend or divulged any of what I overheard, even though it ate away at my everyday. Though I've left home, it still does.
They know I had to listen to them by night, but by day they feigned a flawless, happy front. They looked perfect together. I always felt like the crazy one. I wish they'd at least thanked me once for respecting their privacy, for bottling my emotions and maintaining their perfect façade.
Let it out, Reddit. What's something you never received due appreciation for?
