If CNN can lose their minds with graphs of Presidential Electors and results.....why can't they show some graphs of the national budget the same way?

I'm being serious here. When election time comes around, there's always that map of electoral votes, with John King and everyone else going through possibilities and eventualities and contingencies, best- and worst-case scenarios, flukes of statistics, extremes on all sides, etc. etc. etc. Why can't we have the same kind of coverage of the budget? A graph that shows everything from a bird's eye view, so that people get a better sense for the numbers being talked about. For one thing it would illustrate why talking about cutting PBS to save costs is a fruitcake's solution.
