Looking for some advice on making a system
Hey guys, so, I've been wanting to make a system for a while where characters upgrade through skill trees and each time they level up they get one point to spend on their tree, the game at the moment is set in a cyber/steampunk setting and as such, the system works around that, there are three initial classes which then split into three trees, two specialised ones and then the title tree which offers less powerful skills, but are more evenly balanced:
- Shadowrunner - master of stealth and subterfuge
Mountebank - a specialist in forgery, charisma and charm
Shinobi - a silent warrior who uses the shadows against his enemy
- Gearsmith - experienced user of steam technology
Man-at-arms - a player versed in the control of the exoskeleton (an Armour that allows certain abilities in game)
Engineer - skilled in creating gadgets and gizmos and repairing armors.
- Artificer - learned scholar with the ability to tap into the arcane
Shaman - a scholar learned in the art of healing using the spirit
Diabolist - a scholar skilled in the art of conjuring illusions
So those are the classes that I've thought of, some feedback on those would be excellent, some example skills would simply provide mods to the dice roll (i.e. A shinobi would perhaps have a skill that gives a +10 to any stealth attack).
I was wanting the dice to go on a d100 system, however, I'm having trouble figuring out all the nooks and crannies, any advice?
tl;dr need help getting the specifics in place for a system I'm making.
Thanks!
