I got lucky... REALLY LUCKY

Here is a quick tale about a campaign my friends and I just started. It is based in Forgotten Realms. Anyway I wanted to make a Grim Reaper char, because I felt like taking a walk down the neutral road, but my DM told me no homebrew so I set out to make a char that is as close to a grim reaper as possible. So I made a char who had 4 lvls in Sorc, 2 lvls in Fighter, and then 2 lvls in Spell-sword (we started at lvl 8). Turns out it will work pretty well, but the funny thing is is that I choose to be neutral and follow a deity of death, Kelemvor. This is not my usual MO, I usually do a good character and just stick with it. This time was very different. Anway the reason I was lucky was because, our campaign is started off by us working for a lich in the country of Thay... Yeah if I had been my regular type of char... I would have been killed... I later asked if my DM planned for me to become a neutral character, and he straight up told me "I wanted to kill you off almost immediately so I was hoping you would make a good character, I wasn't expecting you to make a neutral character at all"

TLDR: I usually play a good char, decided to play a neutral char and it saved my hide from instant death

EDIT: Yesterday our group met up and I asked the DM if we could go kill something, I was dying to try out my 1 hit kill scythe. SOO what does he do? Makes me go to Kelemvor and pray for someone to kill, he tells me to go find an this enchantress somewhere in the city. I find her house but her handmaiden answers the door, I talk my way through and lay a trap for when the enchantress comes back. I end up killing her so I go back to Kelemvor's chapel. He kicks me out and takes my scythe away saying that I killed the handmaiden instead of the enchantress. I go try to kill her again, this time she enchants me and I die of poison. I get rez'd by the red wizards because I happen to be working for them (losing a level in the process) and then send 20 guys to go kill her, someone else already killed her and used my scythe to do it. I kill him but the scythe is now useless to me, meaning one of my feats that I had is totally worthless to me now. So in one day I got kicked out of my religion, got my weapon taken away, and then died which cost me a level. (I should mention that I had been serving Kelemvor for 8 years prior and had not made a single mistake, I called the DM out on it and he said "I don't care" ) My DM is officially a dick
