How do you guys deal with religious fests?

Since we are now nearing the holiday season I was wondering how you guys deal with the religious fests.

I will be going to a couple of christmas parties in order to keep the family peace, but still feel the need to refuse taking part in singing psalms and going to church though this will cause new problems with my in laws. What do you guys do?
