Miami

So in the coming months I am going to be putting together a Miami Vice game. The characters will be vice squad members dealing with smuggling rings (pirates!), new street drugs, gang wars, etc. I also want to tackle the good stuff that vice movies have: getting too close to your CI's, the hazards for your friends and family when you are deep undercover, etc. I'd like the whole thing to have a gritty noir feel to it as well (see the 2006 remake of Miami Vice for the feel I'm going toward).

What I don't have is a good sense of Miami as a City. For twenty years I've been playing Shadowrun, and I have a great sense of Seattle and the pacific northwest because I've lived here my whole life. It's easy to visualize the space needle when you have been there dozens of times. I've never been to Florida, never been to Miami, or the gulf area at all.

I'm going to spend the next few months leading up to my campaign writing a "source book like" primer for my players (and myself) to give the sense of a city required to capture a good undercover cop movie/story. What I am hoping from Reddit is a some things ever Miamian(?) would know: landmarks, slang terms, etc. The details of Miami in Shadowrun cannon amount to about eight total paragraphs in twenty years of books. I've scoured wikipedia and stuff, but I am eager for "first hand" (even tourist) accounts of the city and it's flair.

Edit 1: Movie lists are also good too. not just generic cop/vice movies, I have a good feel for what I want, but good Miami/Gulf/Cuban/Flordia Keys movies.
