Is it normal for Yaz, Yasmin, & other birth control that is supposed to fix PMDD to stop working?
I've tried Googling but cannot find any results.
I'm on birth control that is supposed to fix my PMDD. It has been working great for two years. Though the birth control aspect is still working, I have awful PMDD again. Is this common? Are there other medications I can check out or routes I can take? I am currently taking Syeda, which is the generic form of Yasmin. I was on the generic form of Yaz for a while but had to stop for breakthrough bleeding.
The only thing I can think is that when I first started taking this medication, I was in college so my sleeping habits weren't the same day-to-day and I didn't eat healthy or exercise often and was prone to binge drinking. I'm out of college now and have a more healthy lifestyle. Is it possible I've had hormonal changes as a result and I'm having adverse side-effects from Yasmin similar to when people who don't have depression take antidepressants and experience feelings of depression? Has anyone else had this experience?
I'm sure people will recommend I see my gynecologist. I am going to in a little over a week. It's extremely difficult to get an appointment and it's gotten to the point that I just don't want to wait to find out any longer... I'd like to have some idea to reassure me before I go since I'm absolutely at my wit's end!
Edit: Just thought of something to add. I definitely have had hormonal changes because I was previously unable to have sex without lube due to what I assumed was the result of being on birth control for so long. I started sleeping with a new partner last month and have not had a problem in that department.
