Need PC Support... Can't get single player to load after profile selection

I cannot figure out how/where to find the answer on Ubisoft's Support page (nevermind that any searches lead to FAQs - which so far has lead to failure)... And I'm hoping r/assassinscreed can help.

I've just finished the main mission and now want to spend some time spoiler, but after selecting that profile to start the game I'll enter the Animus loading screen... And then AC3SP.exe freezes. Crashes. Dead in the water as soon as the little pop-up window saying "Entering Region...." starts to render.

Any help is appreciated, fellow Assassins. Thanks.
