Install Thaumcraft 3 to client and server?

I run a little server for myself and a couple friends. We have been wanting Thaumcraft for a while now. Is there a specific way you have to do this? I know I can just add mods to the launcher but I remember someone saying item ids might not line up and then I have no idea what I need to do server side. If someone could type up a walkthrough our post a youtube video then I would be very grateful. Thanks in advance.
