[Q] If you hit someone with a flare, then immediately burn them with the degreaser, is total afterburn damage reduced?

The Degreaser has reduced afterburn while the flare gun does not. Does this mean that hitting someone with the Degreaser would effectively reset the afterburn damage or does it default to the greater amount?
