[Build Help] Think about buying a GTX 680...

I was wondering if the 680 is a good card to upgrade to, and whether or not it is compatible with my current system. I'm not experienced with buying pc parts so please, help me out.

Here is my CPU info, taken directly from speccy:

*Intel Core i7 950 @ 3.07GHz

Is this compatible with the 680? Also, if i'm completely out of my mind, just let me know.
