Windows 8 for a steam box / htpc / 10-ft interface?

I'm wavering on whether or not to upgrade to Windows 8 right now. My machine will be connected to my TV, most likely with Steam Big Picture Mode set to launch at startup.

The biggest complaint i've read about Win8 is the interface, but I think that the big tablet-esque interface might actually be nice on a TV that's being operated from a couch.

But...I read an article that said that there were performance increases with Win8, but that due to drivers not being optimized, there was still some stutter on both AMD and Nvidia.

Ideally I would like to have my OS set with a clean install now before I start installing anything else.

So, Win8 now or no?
