Current/recent students, what was your general/average highschool GPA (unweighted/weighted) and how did it affect your college and career?

Being constantly told that GPA will make or break my life, it keeps me up at night wondering what will happen to me. I take high level classes and I do good on the SAT but my GPA has been going down hill (from 3.8s --> 3.1s --> 2.14 --> 2.71). So you guys who have graduated recently what was your GPA and what school did you get into? What are some tips to make up for this?
