Toshiba Satellite L450-Smoke,sparks and cracking noise from fan's side vent? :S

Hey guys, I was just carrying my laptop from one room to another (vertically if that makes a difference) whilst it was still turned on. It then started to make a crackling noise and smoke started to come out of the vent. I immediately turned it horizontal and took the battery out. Is there anything I should do before attempting to turn it on again? The fan seems to be clear of dust etc however I have had it 2 years without it being cleaned out. Thanks :)
