An injury is forcing me to change my entire workout plan. I need some help planning out what I'm doing.
Long story short, the doctor says I have tendonitis in my foot that could take weeks to heal. He recommends I keep working out but refrain from putting any weight on my injured foot.
In order to get this to heal as fast as possible, I've decided to cut out any exercises that require bracing weight on my legs or feet. Unfortunately, this cuts 3/4 of the exercises I was doing out of my workouts. I'm at the gym 4 days a week (3 days of lifting and 1 day of cardio). Until now, I had been doing the Wichita Falls Novice Program, but now I can't squat, dead, or clean.
Has anyone else been through an obnoxious injury like this? How did you modify your workouts?
I was thinking of a program that looked like this:
Workout A:
- Leg curls/Leg raises/hip abductor/hip adductor machines (all this to replace squats)
- Bench press
- Pull-ups/chin-ups (alternating)
- Back extensions
Workout B:
- Leg curls/leg raises/hip abductor/hip adductor machines
- Seated overhead press (probably will have to be done in a Smith machine)
- Lat pulldown
- Lying tricep extensions (dips maybe?)
- Bicep curls
Thoughts?
