Redditors with divorced parents, how did your parents tell you they were getting a divorce? Did you notice them not getting along before they told you?

My parents got divorced when I was around 10 or 11 and we lived in Florida. They never fought or said anything bad about each other and still haven't to this day (at least not in front of me). About a week before they told my brother and I, my dad started sleeping in the guest room and told us it was because he was working late and didn't want to keep our mom up. Later they came and sat us down on the couch and told us. I remember crying for the rest of the day and through the night. I asked my mom if we were moving since we wouldn't be living with my dad anymore and she said we would be going to Finland so she could be with her family again (she's finnish).

I used to not understand why my parents divorced since they never fought but now I realized it was because my mom couldn't stand to hardly ever see her family because we always lived so far away. My dads job caused us to move around a lot so my brother and I were always losing our best friends, the same thing went for my mom. I still wish they were together because I miss my dad more than anything because I only get to see him every 4 months and then I only get to be with him for about a week... But I can say that I understand why they got a divorce and I don't blame them...

I'm interested to hear about how other divorces are so that's why I made this post.
