Atheist's views and thoughts on religion?

Hey Reddit, Please believe me when I say that I am not here to start any flame wars, fights or arguments or trying to cause any trouble. I am respectfully coming the Reddit to gather and observe peoples ideas and opinions on the subject of Religion. I can to state that I am a protestant christian, I follow and live by the words and teachings of Jesus Christ. I am asking you fellow Redditors, atheist, christian, or anything else, what are your views on Religion and its place in the modern world and society. I simply ask just for respectful and mature responses, again, I am not trying to start any sort of war here (I know, its the internet :/). Thank you for your time! -Regards
