Need help. Hitman Absolution on 360: what am I missing here?

Every time I restart the xbox, the game starts me back, like two levels behind where i left off! I would expect it to start me at the same checkpoint where I was when I turned off the machine. Even the beginning of the level, I could understand. But it starts me BACK! WTF?

Also, the "Continue" option on the main menu is always disabled. I have to go to Level Select and choose the last available option which is always well behind where I left off. Is this normal?

WTF am I missing here?? It's starting to really piss me off and put me off continuing the game.
