Concert goers and drugs...

Last night, I attended the Zeds Dead show at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia, PA. As I moved my way to the front of the crowd, a man came on the mic to announce, "due to prior overdoses early in the night, Zeds Dead has been canceled this evening." I was quickly angered as I spent $80 for two tickets since I bought them the day of the show. While exiting, I couldn't help but notice the overwhelming amount of teenagers there. There are rumors that roughly 8-10 people were found passed out before Zeds Dead even took the stage. Out of those 8-10 rumored ODs, the oldest person carted out was 17 years old.

Drugs are becoming an increasingly growing aspect of the concert/festival world nowadays. But the downside is the fact that people are simply willing to make an extra buck nowadays, so they're cutting these drugs with chemicals the average person is highly ignorant about. It's obviously the individuals' decision to partake in drugs, so it must be done with some caution and education. If one cannot partake in drugs responsibly (or simply don't take them at all), then one should stay home and not ruin it for everyone else. My thoughts go out with the families of these individuals, but not so much with the victims. The victims were ignorant and over-indulgent in their drug taking, and now they will pay the price, while their friends, family, and concert goers suffer the loss of a highly anticipated Zeds Dead show. So concert goers, please be educated in the substances you are taking, and if you cannot enjoy the show without some sort of drug, then stay home.
