Is Asakusa interesting at night?

My girlfriend is visiting from the USA, and I wanted to spend two nights in Tokyo around Christmas. The cheapest places all seem to be in the Asakusa area, but because trains stop so early, I want to stay somewhere that's exciting at night like Shinjuku. Are there lots of bars/clubs or other nightlife in the Asakusa area that would make being there after midnight interesting?
