Are you like me and got really annoyed that you couldn't drag a playlist to your iPhone/iPad in iTunes 11? Here's how to turn manually managed drag and drop back on:

1. Ctrl+S (windows) or Cmd+S (mac) to turn on the sidebar.

2. Plug in device

3. When the device is ready select it in the list of the sidebar.

4. On the summary page, scroll to the bottom and ensure "manually manage music and videos" is turned on.

5. You should be able to drag playlists and so on from the sidebar "playlists" to the device.

Not sure why apple decided to remove drag and drop to their devices from the new interface... Hopefully this helps someone else out as it was bugging the hell out of me. (When you drag in the new UI it gives you NO indication why it won't work, it just won't let you drag.)
