How to improve my improvising skills?

Hey r/guitar,

I've got a little problem with my guitar playing. When it comes to improvising im kinda limited on using the different patterns of the blues pentatonic and playing them over and over filled with some licks. While this sounds okay, its not that kind of a melodic, beatiful, sad solo like i would like to play it... It just sounds like the old Blues from the 50s and 60s which is not bad, but it is not the sound im interested in. Could you give me an advice how to improve my Improvising and Solo skills?
