A good gesture turns into a problem.
I've posted a few stories here so far from my experiences as a manger in a butcher shop and I have yet another. Today a very regular good customer of mine came in to pick up his venison. He is deploying to Afghanistan for the sixth time and is going to take it with him. This man spares no expense at my store and is a great man who is the essence of a solider. So he comes in and I grab his bill which is 250 dollars. I then tell him I'm taking 50 off as a token of gratitude I suppose. He's very humble and thanks me a bunch. I shake his hand tell him to stay safe and say hello to the mrs. For me. Great went well right, wrong.
Dick head behind him in line was there to drop venison off. Heard the exchange and demanded he get 50 off for being a veteran. I politely told him it was a personal gesture and not a company one. He asks to see the manager and I told him you are looking him in the eyeballs. He name drops my boss and says its bullshit that I can give discounts to who I want. (it was my time and labor I can discount whatever I want) He grunts and groans as I do his paperwork but he's cooperating. I then ask for a deposit and he refuses so I quoted him 2 months for his order to be filled. ( I could have done it in three days but fuck him) some people just want something for nothing.
