CLG.NA Discussion
I want to discuss the current line-up of CLG and their performance at IPL5. I'd like to hear what you guys think about the future of CLG and what they need right now to give them the extra "oomph" they need to be a top contender in the international scene. I think they're very close, but they have a few things holding them back.
-
HotshotGG: I think Hotshot is actually in a good place right now. He's arguably the best at staying even with his lane opponent even through ganks. Hotshot is the Immovable Object of top lane. He picks big fat champions, stacks GP10 items and farms no matter how hard you try to stop him. I feel that his weakness is that sometimes he makes poor decisions relating to using summoner spells like teleport and sometimes gets caught when he shouldn't. Overall I feel that he's doing fairly well.
-
Bigfatjiji: Jiji is looking really, really consistent right now. He very rarely loses his lane by much and is really good at staying even, He's kind of like Hotshot in a way. However, his roam is actually quite phenomenal. He's very good at having a presence around the map without getting caught out. Jiji is a really solid mid-laner in my opinion. The only thing I think he really needs to work on is his ability to bully his opponent and actually win his lane instead of just staying even. His roam usually makes up for this though. If he could somehow do both, he would become one of, if not the best midlane NA as far as I'm concerned.
-
Doublelift: Doublelift is a god. He's possibly the best ADC in the entire world, and is certainly in the top 3. His mechanics and micro are absolutely incredible. However, his map awareness and decision making are somewhat mediocre. He tends to play the same way every game, regardless of how well he's doing. Doublelift is like a steamroller. He's going to go hard in one direction no matter what you do, so his team needs to make sure that the path is clear by supporting him and setting up ganks.
-
Chauster: Chauster is an excellent shot-caller and a damn fine jungler. He works well with CLG because his map awareness is awesome, and he's really good at being where he needs to be. Chauster and Jiji have really good synergy and together they put the enemy in the very awkward position of being vulnerable at any time. Chauster is doing exactly what he needs to do when he ignores top lane, because Hotshot can hold his own up there no matter what the enemy team does. He needs to set up ganks for Doublelift and roam with Jiji and to his credit, this is what he usually does. Overall, Chauster is awesome.
-
Locodoco: Oh man, I don't know where to start here. Loco has a LOT of problems right now. He gets caught out way more often than he should, doesn't give Double the kind of support he needs to be able to perform the way we all know he can, and he clearly hates the support role. I don't know if Locodoco is good for the team right now as a player, but I believe that he did help CLG learn to capitalize on early advantages and that really showed. As a support though, he's just falling short.
So now that I've gone over the roster, I'd like to present a few ideas I have as to how they can fix some of their issues.

Put Jiji in the support role, and move Loco to mid. This is probably my most controversial idea, and I'm just throwing it out there, but i think that it could maybe work. Jiji is a really, really consistent player and has good map awareness which is exactly the kind of player Doublelift needs in that bot lane to help him out. I don't know how good Loco is at mid though, and it's important that they don't have a weak midlaner.

Let Chauster call the shots. Chauster has proven time and time again that his map awareness, decision making, and cold logical methodology are superb. Just stow away your egos and let Chauster direct you. Doublelift is an absolute monster, but he needs direction. Jiji and Chauster already work together very well. Hotshot needs to be told when to teleport and when to avoid a fight. Chauster as the only shot-caller would really make them more efficient.

Either make Locodoco practice support more, or let him leave. Loco has made it clear that he hates playing support and i just don't think it's going to work out as long as he's in that position. He's stated that he thinks he should have stayed in Korea and clearly his heart isn't in it. I don't really blame him for it, but something needs to change. This team is just not going to be able to compete at the level they could be competing on as long as Loco is supporting the way he's been supporting lately.
I'd love for you guys to share your thoughts on this.
