Need help choosing a laptop
1.* Country of purchase: USA 2.* Budget range: 500 USD 3.* Purpose Schoolwork (word processing, powerpoints, etc), maybe a little World of Warcraft 4.* Screen size preference: 14 inches or under (imperative to my decision) 5.* OS preference (Windows/ Mac/ Linux): I will dual boot Ubuntu, but I would like Windows preinstalled. I prefer Win7 to Win8 but I will be find with 8. 6.* Gaming requirements (example games and desired fps/settings): World of Warcraft (low to medium, 30fps during raids, 60 when in empty-ish areas), Call of Duty 4 (40-60 fps, medium settings) 7.* Performance requirements (video, CAD, etc.): Just games and word processing. Intel HD graphics are preferred since AMD and NVIDIA drivers for Linux aren’t very good 8.* Method of computer support (office supplier, college bookstore, self support): Self support is fine. 9.* Brand preferences and reasons (already owned accessories, familiarity, business 10.compatibility): I would prefer one of Lenovo’s Thinkpads but I am open to other brands 11.* Any particular style that you like (examples are great): Thinkpad line (T-series, X-Series, Edge) 12.* Which of the following qualities would you prefer? (Choose one, the other, or balanced) 13.* Long battery life -vs- Low weight: Long battery life 14.* Build quality -vs- Low price: Low price 15.* Low noise/heat -vs- High performance: Low noise/heat (I REALLY HATE LOUD COMPUTERS) 16.Would you pay a premium for something that has: 17.* High resolution screen: No (1366 x 768 is perfectly fine IMHO, but nothing smaller than 1280 x 720) 18.* A great keyboard: No 19.* A great touchpad/mouse buttons: No 20.* Great audio: No 21.List any features that are critical: (e.g. Optical drive, USB 3.0, SD card slot, ethernet port, HDMI port, bluetooth, VGA port, removable battery, glossy screen, matte screen, etc.) I cannot stress enough the price range and screen size.
