The Battle: Do I cut them?

I've had my dreads going on 4 years and for the last 6 months or so I've been really considering whether I want to cut them or keep them. All my rational side says to cut them: I have a hard time keeping them clean and dry, I live in WA so keeping the moisture out is difficult. They're heavy when I put them up, and to maintain them is more work than I'm really willing to do these days, which only results in some loose hairs and loose ends.
On the other side, I know I'll miss them terribly. I love the look, even when they're not completely maintained.
In other words, my practical side says maybe it's time for a new look. But my emotional side is very torn. What should I do?
