Just finished week 6-- some comments and questions.
I just went for my first 25 min run today. It was rainy, humid and yucky, but I hardly noticed it. The first half was great, but when I turned around and was running home, i was like, "man! why is it so much worse now?" of course the first half was mostly downhill, which meant the second half was up. I've come to the conclusion that I LOVE running flats and downhills, but I dread the uphills. I still push through them, but i find myself way out of breath and pushing every step of the way just to keep going. By the top i feel unbalanced, a little dizzy, so I focus on slowing my breathing and pace until it goes away.
The other thing I've always wondered about, and has been on my mind recently, is the fact that for me (and others i think) its such a push just to run that long, while others, who have never run, or haven't run in a long time can go out and run 3+ miles on their second or third run. I'm an athletic build, never too out of shape, but also never a work out nut. Why is it sooo hard to run the distance? My fiance, who runs with me, is the kind of person who can just go out and run. But if I had tried it without going through the program, I would have collapsed and passed out after 2 miles. I even used to get physically sick in high school after the mile test.
Anybody else notice these things?
