Do movies define our political enemies?
In movies, the enemy tends to be represent our current political enemies. Such as in Rocky 4, Ivan Drago, Rocky's opponent represents the stereotypical Russian male. This movies release in 1985 came within the Cold War era, when Russia was America's greatest enemy. Also, in the original Red Dawn movie, the United States is invaded by the Soviet Union and its Cuban and Nicaraguan allies. The movie was released in 1984, in a time when Russia and Cuba were the greatest threats to the United States. I'm just curious to hear what Reddit thinks of this theory, do movies portray the villains as our political enemy?
