I bought the game and a subscription when it released, and now it's free to play. Do I have any benefits?

My friend recently started playing the FTP version, and he got me thinking I might want to get back into it. However, I looked online and saw the difference between free to play, and the subscription style.

Do I have any benefits being a first round player or am I going to have to get a subscription again to have use everything, or is there some kind of "original user benefit"?
