My elementary school principal had a tarantula that he let crawl around his office. What weird adults terrified you as a child?

The spider's name was Roxanne, and it was usually kept in its cage. Getting called to the principal's office was the worst, because sometimes he would let it crawl all over him while he chastised you. I look back now as an adult and think, wtf was he thinking???
