The paleo diet emphasizes grass-fed meat because it is healthier, not because it is more humane. People who can't afford those options shouldn't feel like they're bad people, something that /r/paleo has a tendency of doing.

I love this subreddit, but when people bring up the source of their meats, it's always about what's "humane," not what's healthy, which is what Paleo should be about. If I wanted to be lectured on my morals, I'd call up PETA.

Living in a capitalist society means giving up some of your moral ground in order to survive. Nearly everything, from what you eat to the clothes you wear to the computer/device you're using to read this now, infringes on someones' rights in some way in order to make it more affordable for us. Affordability comes before my morals in many regards, because in the end, my survival is more important than someone else's, including cows. That's social darwinism.

You pick and choose the morals you stand by everyday, and everyone's is different. Instead of lecturing someone else on what you believe, look in the mirror and improve on something you fault in. And please leave it off of r/paleo.
