I want to confront my brother who nearly raped me over six years ago, I don't think he remembers but I want closure. It's been nagging me the older I get and I just can't take it anymore. So Reddit, how should I go about doing this?
The reason I want to confront him now after all of these years is because I denied it for so long and felt no plausible reason to do so. Now that I'm older, I've realized this wasn't just something stupid that he did, it could have been much more catastrophic.I don't really hold it against him or feel like it has affected me in any profound way. I was very young around 13-14. He was really really drunk, and after very explicitly telling him what he was trying to do, he stopped and cried and begged for my forgiveness. We have never spoken of it since. I don't know if it's because he doesn't remember or because he never wants to speak of it. I want to confront him, I really only want an apology and closure. I don't want it to ruin our relationship, because it is strong. I don't want to ruin our family. I know this is probably not an unusual situation but I just don't know what to do.
