What pleasant random exchanges have you had on the topic of AnCap lately? Here's one I had yesterday.

Just a random exchange I had yesterday which I thought you all might appreciate.

So yesterday afternoon I was with a lady friend of mine and we had an event to attend. Before heading out she had said she needed to run by Target to pick something up.

When we arrived, the place was totally packed. So I dropped her off up front and parked along the side of the store in the fire lane where I noticed another gentlemen who had pulled over there to wait for someone he had dropped off.

When I got out to stretch my legs a bit I struck up small talk with the gentleman there and complimented him on his good idea to park along the side of the building rather than be involved in the swarms of people in the parking lot. He indicated that we were parked in the fire lane and said "Yeah, I'll take just about any opportunity I can to break the law at this point." He went on to say that, "I'm not quite full blown anarchist just yet, but I'm getting there." He said it half joking, but at the same time you could tell there was a certain seriousness in his tone.

My mind was a bit blown to be honest. Here's this guy, in his late 40's... respectable attire, just waiting for his wife while his kids are sipping on juice boxes in the back seat of a newer SUV, in the parking lot of a Target on a Saturday afternoon... and the conversation has turned to the topic of anarchy, and I wasn't the one who brought it up.

Despite being AnCap myself, I decided to just say that I favored free markets and unfettered capitalism but that I also shared his sentiment regarding a stateless society. I then went onto to say I had been putting forth questions to people who were self proclaimed anarchists, and that I found them to have very insightful, intelligent and thoughtful replies. I then made up a story about how I had asked them about things like fire departments. And how they had replied that (the whole thing about private FDs, how they would work with insurance companies etc). I could tell he hadn't thought about it but that it totally made sense to him how a system like that would work and be favorable economically to the existing system.

Anyway, I just thought it was an interesting little random and unexpected exchange that you might enjoy hearing about.

Have any of you had similar unexpected exchanges like this lately?
