Trying to make the most of a bad photo - how did I do?

Friend got pictures taken of him at a driving experience day - photographer does everything at a jaunty angle for some reason, and they usually crop in as far as they can get (I asked them not to on this). Anyway - here's the photo he got - and here's my edit of it

I had to add a bit extra on the corners... its not perfect.
