Let's be better at avoiding shitty consumer goods. What products have you bought that turned out to be an awful waste of money?

Mine is the cardboard cat scratchers that have the white pebbles on it that are supposed to wear down their nails. No cats use them. Save your $20. (I'm a vet student and many cat owner friends tell me the same thing)

Also, those cat towers made up of piping and rug - way overpriced. Take a weekend and make it yourself with Home Depot supplies for $30.
