regulars of /r/Traders what are your thoughts on discretionary trading and retail traders?
-there are more professional traders here than on the other finance sub reddits -most traders here seem to be quant -is a science background needed in order to trade?
retail traders get all the scammers, many people promising they make huge sums of money through discretionary trading but never providing the proof that they do
an example of this would be reddit user plopalot2 though he deleted most of his old posts or to a lesser extent this guy in that he doesnt promise huge profits just consistent ones http://www.reddit.com/r/investing/comments/ojxnz/iama_profitable_discretionary_forex_trader/
as a nooby i can't tell if this person is a scammer. they aren't advertising any particular brokerage but they do work up the fact that they're consistently profitable from a discretionary system without any proof which is at minimum suspect
i know this subreddit is for professionals and topics that pertain to that but some opinions on this subject would be appreciated
