Can you guys give me some advice on a SL 1 run through?

Hey everyone! So I am just going to start by saying that Dark Souls is my favorite game and I beat it some time ago. Today the worst thing happened to me. My playstation save files got corrupted and all of my games must be started over from scratch :(. I figure this is a good opportunity for me to give a go at a SL 1 run through! So let me know! What kind of advice do you guys recommend? Equipment? Weapons? Armour? I think the pyromancer will be a good starting class. Thanks for the tips everyone!
