I buy all RGG games on PC, so the only option is digital. Switch games are the only platform I bought physical because I like their game cards. I also have PS4 too and physical games are much cheaper when you buy used dics, but when you try to resell them, they don't keep much value like switch game cards.

of course; how's this even a question? did you watch that fucking trailer?

IT'S HYPEEEEEE

Hype for the torrent to be available for sure, no hype for buying a digital copy I barely have any ownership on

well, whether you buy it legit or get it from Jack Sparrow, i hope you enjoy gaiden :D

Hate to be that guy but probably wont be able to pirate it considering all the recent games from rgg have had denuvo which makes it borderline impossible to crack.

judgement, lost judgement and ishin dont have one.

regardless id support rgg instead if i was you

kn0bbuloOP•

I’ll survive without Gaiden then. Or wait even a decade if needed before someone cracks it. This shit is inconceivable.

It would’ve been only AND EXCLUSIVELY if they were selling it so cheap that releasing it physical would’ve carried a risk to their profit but it’s sold at 50€, not, let’s say, 25 or 30. So fuck that.

Yeah non physical shouldn't be a standard considering you dont even own the game if you buy it non physical

I'm an RGG simp, so i will buy them, plus i never have a PlayStation so i always buy digital stuff.

100% buy. Gamer first, collector second. Still want to have fun with it.

I almost only buy digital games, it makes no difference to me

WhyNishikiWhy"Ten [x] in the [y] made you a fucking [z]"•

i mix it up, depending on prices and how badly i want to play

No difference actually I hate physical because of all the inserting disk things

Honestly I don’t get peoples reasoning of not buying a game because there is no physical disk may someone with this perspective explain?

2†
kn0bbuloOP•

First because I feel like if I ever reach a point in life where standing up to change a disc is too much of a strain, I might just kill myself and be done with it.

And second because it doesn’t take a genius to see that Amazon constantly sells games at a better price than what you see on online stores, except when said stores go on sale. Having the option to buy both means having more chances to save money, whereas if only the online store sells it you are bound to a single option and you might expect less sales too.

There’s the obvious conservation problem and if you think that’s far fetched keep in mind that rockstar removed the original GTA games when they released their dogshit remastered version, meaning that in the future if there is no physical counterpart you might be unable to buy the OG version of a game.

And finally collectors exist, and those people like to pay even a premium for a steel box and shit

Edit: those downvoting might as well try to find a retort unless you felt called out in the first part of the post :*

Also, One problem with your PS/Xbox/Steam account, and all the games would be gone forever.

kn0bbuloOP•

At this point I’m convinced that those that don’t see the problem in digital only are either:

  • corporate shills

  • people who think the console market is the same as the pc one ignoring that on PC there’s a plethora of marketplaces while consoles have only one

  • literal kids, who understandably would not put so much thought over this

iirc physical games aren't what they used to be. all you have is a physical license to play the game. they don't even install from discs anymore; they install from the cloud; the disc is just there to check you've bought the rights to the game.

but i get what you mean and it does kinda suck for collectors. there's also the problem of not being able to sell a game once you're done with it (something i took advantage of on ps5). online sales are bad in a sense. the other guy also had a point, though, it can get tedious to insert discs over again. not to mention discs being damaged/destroyed/lost.

discs have their pros and cons but, in the end i think the march of technology is unstoppable here. discs will become obsolete at some point; nothing we players can do about it i'm afraid

kn0bbuloOP•

EA games do that crap. I can’t find a single game in my library that doesn’t install from the disc. And EA is another company from which I stopped buying ever since they released dead space 3 (it takes 2 being the only exception in all these years).

I agree with the sentiment that there’s little we can do but I will at least vote with my wallet

I upvoted you to try to even the downvotes

I never said I’m too lazy to get up I just perfer not doing it at all I’m a lazy person though I get that I worded my first sentence wrong I do have physical and digital I’ve just beeen playing digital more often

I can’t really counter argument anything you got me

My main point of the comment was not getting a game you may enjoy just because you can’t get it physically (saying in the situation it would be you’re only digital game)

1
kn0bbuloOP•

I never downvote, if I do is when I receive ad hominem. And even then they have to be unwarranted so no, I didn’t do shit in that regard cause I don’t care.

As for your main point, that kind of attitude also allowed every other malpractice we have today (aka the massive monetisation of games, regardless of whether they’re free to play or not)

1
throwaway2948474•

By even the downvotes I meant downvotes towards you I just was letting you know I didn’t downvote based off you’re last sentence

You are right I agree with what you said

I actually have not run into a situation for the last few years where I'd have saved money by buying a physical. The psn digital sales are usually cheaper and by the time the physical goes on significant sale, the game is free on psplus/extra. I prefer buying physical only because the copy speed is higher than my internet download speed.

Digital Only has seemed like the natural progression of things to me for a while, granted I game pretty much exclusively on PC.

I'm a RGG fan. I love video games. Of course I will buy it and support this amazing studio.

1
CozmoXVIyagamer•

Doesn't really affect me because I have a Series S, but it's such a shame that we won't get a physical release despite the peak cover art

1

Love rgg and yakuza too much not to buy it but this shouldn't be the standard

1

Yes but only when it goes on sale. I'm not paying full price for a digital game.

1
firecrotch456•

Preordered it already

As much as I love having physical games for my collection, I love the series more, so yes.
