The Bonnaroo Motivational Speech Nobody Asked For. It's time.
Alright team, gather around. Take a knee.
Here’s the deal. We’ve got a big one coming up this week. Big one. The one we’ve been waiting for. The one we’ve been working towards. The hours, days, weeks, and months spent on planning, projects, crafts, totems, costumes, buying supplies, checking lists, working our little kandi making fingers to the bone, and physically preparing ourselves for the challenge ahead of us; it’s all about to pay off….in a BIG way.
It's going to be tough, but you know how we’re going to win? Together. We’re going to go out there on that fresh farm grass in the middle of nowhere Tennessee, and we’re going to send it. We’re going to send it til the sun don’t shine til it rises again and we’re going to send it, Together.
We play as a team. We win as a team. And we’re going to bring it home.
We have some pretty hefty opponents in our path to victory, but it’s nothing we haven’t seen before and nothing we can’t overcome.
Opponent #1- Dehydration. How do we beat it? We drink water. We make sure our teammates drink water. A lot of it. Maybe throw some Gatorade in the mix too for the electrolytes that people and plants crave. We’re going to be playing hard out there and staying hydrated is the #1 key to victory.
Opponent #2- Weather. How do we beat it? We don’t. We plan for it all and embrace it. We own it. We dance in it. We get weird with it. Don’t fight it. Tarps under the tent tucked in. Tents and canopies staked down. Rain boots and ponchos if you like, extra towels, extra shoes, extra hoodie, extra blanket, extra clothes. Pack for hot pack for cold as the forecast has changed 7 times in the last 30 minutes. Keep stuff in the car to stay dry and don’t fall asleep wet. Don’t sweat it, the weather outside is weather and nothing we can’t handle.
Opponent #3- Conflicts. How do we beat it? 2 ways. #1- Accept missing a set you want to see and stick through an entire set. It’s an unfortunate part of the game, but tough decisions have to be made. #2- Tighten up those running shoes, keep it moving, and catch em’ all. Either way we’re going to have an absolute blast doing it and either way, we win.
Opponent #4- Time. How do we beat it? We make every damn second we spend on that farm count. We spend every minute we can enjoying what Roo has to offer. We have the best fucking time of our lives living in the moment with our best friends and family, making new friends, making memories, loving life, loving nature, loving each other, loving ourselves, loving the farm, and getting the fuck down to a fire lineup that is going to keep this party going for 4 days straight and we’re going to send it til the sun comes up every single night.
This is the Roo we’ve been waiting for. After a year cancelled by the pandemic with arguably the best lineup the world had ever seen, a year cancelled by a freak hurricane finding its way to Tennessee, and a down year that was a nice, relaxing, walk on the farm in it’s own very special way; This is the Roo. This is the year 2020 would’ve been. This is the Roo that’s bringing the vets back and so many first timers along for the journey. We’re in for a banger. A real doozy. The anticipation, the excitement, the lineup, the hype, the new theme, all of it. The stars are aligning for this year to be something really special, and I’m confident it’s going to deliver. Let’s bring it.
The stages are built. The arch is lit. The artists are ready. Diesel is ready. We’re ready. It’s here. It’s now. It’s time. Drive safe. Party smart. Party hard. Test your shit. Drink water. Pick each other up. High five everyone. Don’t miss STS9 @ sunrise. Let’s do this. See ya on the farm space cadets!!!!
Happy Roo!!!!!
PS- If you see a Camp Boop the Snoot flag over in Groop, don't be shy come say hi!
TLDR- It's time for Roo. Let's rage.
