Postpaid to Prepaid Migration

I have two accounts with verizon, one prepaid for my wife bc she uses very little data and one postpaid for me on get more bc i use alot. Prepaid just started offering the unlimited plus plan for 40 bucks if you add a line which is very similar to what im paying alot more for.

So question is what is the best way to get this migration done. I dont feel like a store rep is going to be wanting to deal with this bc its not really making a sale but then ive heard alot of migration horror stories with trying to do it yourself online?

Any other tips / advice would be apprectiated. Thanks!

Just call Telesales. We get credit for it.

I would just need to make sure migrations count and not totally new additions to Verizon for the discounted rate.

With migrating, I’d recommend just going in-store. As long as the phone you are migrating is paid off, there shouldn’t be any issues adding your line to your wife’s account.

Stores are not supposed to do it because it comes across as "false churn", gives the agent credit for a new line sale, and the company typically tries to discourage post to pre conversion due to how prepaid customers stay with the company shorter times...that said, if you find a store that has people that know how and don't mind bending what the company wants because Verizon's official corporate take is to "do what's best for the customer".

So, your store experience could go multiple directions...if you want to do the conversion the "official" way is to call the loyalty department, which you would get by calling 611 and saying "cancel a line" when the machine asks why you are calling

What are you talking about? Our system literally has a "transfer to prepaid" button. It's not bending any rules it's a feature and something we're easily allowed to do

I was about the same thing. For indirect agents its a commissionable transaction.

We aren’t supposed to proactively offer the migration as the very first solution, but if a customer requests it or you have tried everything else and they still want to leave THEN you offer it as a solution and no it’s not churn in that aspect and yes telesales reps do get credit and it’s a relatively simple transaction

Make sure to carefully evaluate the prepaid side of the house before switching over because there is a difference and if you are used to using to get more plan, you’re going to be used to always having priority data and on prepaid that simply doesn’t happen. I think the standard is 50 GB. Personally, you can get 100 gigs of priority date as long as you have a 5G device on US Mobile and you and your wife could actually save money because it’s loads better than prepaid Just make sure you get that priority data because you won’t be happy if you’re in a heavy congested area and you have no speed and you’ll be wandering back and then get more plan. It can’t be gotten anymore because all plans have changed.

ya i never would have considered it but the unlimited plus has 50gb priority now

Sounds like a good plan. Kind of like the Visible plus plan is my personal favorite because I have Apple Watch support it’s got 50 gigs of priority data as well and it’s not hard throttle when you run out.

ya i do wish it had samsung watch support, i think that and losing disney plus are the only huge drawbacks for my situation

we do the target verizon prepaid cards when they go on sale with the red card so it will really make it closer to 35 with no taxs / fees

Sounds like a really good move. That whole Disney+ with ESPN plus is definitely hard to swallow especially since you have a legacy plan that you can’t get back.

Got into a store they also get credit as a sale and you have the benefit of having a real person to help is something goes wrong or you need help in the future
