I’m thinking about those 137 people living there now and in big part having somewhere to call home due to the supports or whatever is left of those supports, they get at the lighthouse. Can’t even imagine what they could be thinking and feeling now.

It definitely doesn’t seem like a fun job to try to house the hard to house but hopefully someone can step up. If no one does step up I worry it’s another sign we are going in the wrong direction as a city and the slope quickly gets steeper and more slippery on the way down. More social issues and more costs towards policing, fire, health, corrections, justice and social services. More issues and more money to pay for them that has to come at the cost of taxes and or where money could be spent elsewhere.

Hopefully all levels of government including Indigenous can step up to try to keep these people housed but based on what it looks like everyone is saying there seems to be almost nothing that can make it worth it for someone to want to try.

A lot of money goes into housing people and providing food and accommodations. I don't think most people comprehend what is actually spent.. The problem is just too big to resolve in a timely manner right now.

Ya probably right. That said, levels of government not willing to put the money in to make it worth while for anyone

Lots of politics involved. If i explained more people here would jump the gun and label me x, y and z. But trust me when i say money isn't the issue, millions is invested into it. The problem is just too fast for current services to be effective

I'm 100% sure that when Moe shuffles his cabinet and Dustin Duncan is made the social services minister he will make sure these people get the money they need to integrate into safe, available, economical housing located across our community:) :)

Someone might buy the real estate, but I doubt anyone wants to deal with the business

Would be great if it could be fixed up for affordable housing, but it will never happen. Property taxes are too high downtown, so whatever goes there needs to be profitable. If you had a mixed use building there, commercial on the main, condos up top, that could work. But before they can realize their dream of the “district”, more people have to actually live downtown before businesses will thrive there.

Too busy paying that lawyer from Toronto
