How should I give my mom my coming out letter?

So, I have it written, and printed off. But now I'm faced with HOW to give it to her

Should I slowly try to move to the topic before? Should I sit down with her for a serious conversation? Or should I just leave it where she'll see?

I don't think I should just leave it, as I'd like to guage her reaction. But I just don't know what to do, or how to approach the topic

Also, should I do it on my birthday (in a couple days)? Or wait until another time?
