My parts-bin build. Got this frame caked in mud with a bunch of walmart mongoose components hung off it. Turned out to be a pretty good score though, all the bearings were serviced and a new bottom bracket installed at some point in the past!
Had the butterfly/trekking bars with grips and shifters that came off a different project years ago. SR triple cranks, deore xt deraillers and some 2nd hand gravel kings free from FB marketplace (a hole in the tread so they won't hold air tubeless, but I am a poor who still runs tubes).
I didn’t know that butterfly bars were that old.
Trek is surly of the 90s
And 80s, the 500 series models are Surlys but higher quality tubing and construction. OG 520 is literally a trucker/cross check—horizontal dropouts, canti brakes.
Agreed.
I have a 1991 Specialized Sequoia that’s pretty much a cross check with a threaded headset.
