70p parking fine now £160

Hello, need some advice.

So last October my partner an I went out for a meal. It was our first date. When we pulled up in the car park she paid online via an app that was advertised next to the payment machine. It was 10 minutes until cutoff but we thought we be safe and pay the 70p to avoid a fine. I think it was 6.50 and at 7 you didn't have to pay.

2 months later I get a £60 parking fine for not paying. I contested and explained and turns out that the car park we stayed in wasn't on the app and she'd paid for another car park a few roads away. I tried contesting it, explained the reasoning, the fact we paid anyway but just not the right car park as we couldn't find it. But they rejected it.

I ignored it and soon I got some debt letter for £120. I refused to acknowledge them and now another firm has contacted me with £160. I'd happily go to court over this as I believed we did e erything we could to pay the parking at the time. It was only 70p but now they want £160 because we couldn't find them on the app so we paid another car park, which I think is owned by them too.

Do you guys think I have a case? I've never dealt with court before so where would I get an attorney? Is it even worth it? I'm in the UK :)

Any advice is helpful
