Advice on making friends as an atheist in the Bible Belt?

I been living in the South for almost an year now (not by choice, but because of my dad's job), and I still haven't made any friends. I'm thinking about enrolling in either a trade school or a community college soon and hopefully to make friends (or at least meet some new people) there. But after reading so many horror stories on this sub about being an atheist in Bible Belt states, I'm terrified to even go out now.

So how can I make friends as an atheist in the South? I'm 20F if that's important.
