DD has stopped producing pistols

They stopped when the brace stuff was in question. It isn't permanent.

They stopped over a year ago. My DD rep said they are not coming back.

Form 1 > Form 4 though. Not that it matters to me, I don’t value a factory DD or their lower in general enough for it to be worth the extra $1000 from just buying an upper. Considering you can whip together a better setup on a super premium lower with better trigger, safety, well better everything and have money left to laser it and pay for the stamp. Or spend like $200 on something basic and do whatever you want lol

Their rails are the only thing I'm interested in to be completely honest and they sell them a la carte now, but they are definitely pricey.

Just an idea, you could also watch GAFS and snag an upper. They pop up occasionally. Hell, I might be posting mine before long.

At my lgs they just took the brace off my mk18

All I'm saying is they would have to come from the factory like that from DD with no brace/stock. Maybe they are selling them like that now with the brace rule in effect.
Edit: Here is a listing for one. The photo they use shows a brace but they are listing it as a pistol which I'm assuming means the brace got tossed and isn't included because of the rule.

It doesn't work like that. You would need DD to build it without a stock ever being attached. Once a rifle always a rifle.
