Cottagecore
More farmhouse than cottagecore IMO
Cottagecore has an emphasis on plants. This is farmhouse.
Yes!
It's lovely! But IMO it lacks two things: cohesion in the palette, and personality.
Cohesion: light green, white, brown (wood), and black. But I'm not seeing anything that integrates them together in any of the pieces. The throw pillows are a lost opportunity to accomplish that - one pillow green and white, one black and green, keep two of the black and white ones (love the print!).
Then for the rug, get a traditional one like an Oriental or Persian to match the traditional feel of everything already there. Something similar to this would be a great addition because it's still light and subtle but brings in opportunities for little accents of other colors like dark green and rust: a plant pot, lamp base, picture frame, etc.
Then, the other issue: personality. There's very little to distinguish this beautiful place from any other. What makes it yours? What of you is there in it? The decor and art don't tell the viewer anything about you as a person. It lends an impersonal vibe to the whole space. There are some photos, but they're tucked into the staircase corner. The art on the walls is neutral to the point of being generic.
Who are your favorite artists? Musicians? Hobbies, films, collections? You could style the walls and various surfaces with so many things that tell the story of who you are - where you've been, your ethnicity, what you're proud of accomplishing, what you dream of, what inspires you. I'd love to see some of that in there.
Yes it’s a bit generic, I’ll admit. I raised my family in a large home full of color. I loved it. But now I have moved to this small cottage forever home. I actually have sage green pillows in the same family as the black and white pillows but I just put them away for awhile. I change things up like that. I love the rug you selected…. It could be a great solution to my color problem I’m having with rugs. Upstairs I have a completely different world. I have a “music” room with all kinds of color, etc. And the other room is Raider room with the TV.
Thank you for taking the time to reply and giving me great advice! Thank you!!!
Isn't that a great rug?
It absolutely is!
I wish the black lamp and overhead dining light were colored - maybe a dark green, but not black. Those stand out to me the most as starkly contrasted and not cohesive
I don't see anything wrong with it. It's lovely.
Modern little house on the prairie.
Thank you ( in the mountains actually)
:)
I love the farmhouse vibes I’m getting!!!! I’m doing the farmhouse vibes in my house. I think I recognise a few decor items from Hobby Lobby 😉 I have a few myself
Yes a little bit from everywhere! Thank you! Post some pics of your place!
Modern farmhouse
I don’t have a descriptor to add beyond what’s already been said, but I really love what you’ve done in mixing textures and neutral colors, especially your fireplace decor.
Thank you!😂
It’s clean and serene. I love the farmhouse vibes! It’s not too cluttered and you just gave me inspo for my next place! Absolutely LOVE IT 😍
Awwwww… thank you so much!
Who needs a cottage when you can have a whole cottagecore community! Love it!
Thank you!
All that calm white...Scandi cottage.
Like that😊
It kind of reminds me of snow whites apartment in once upon a time
I would not call this farmhouse, I would call it elegant cottage. It’s very pretty!
Thank you so much!
I would define it as I NEED THIS
Seriously, though, it is so lovely
You are too sweet! Thank you!
English seaside.
Love that! Thanks!
Gorgeous, homey and clean. And like it smells fresh!
That’s exactly what I want!😊
Farmhouse zen.
😊
A mix of shabby chic and cottage. I love it!! Totally my taste.
Thank you!😊
Farmhouse staged model apartment. It looks great.
Thank you!
White out
Yeah what I was going for 😊
Lovely! That’s how I define it!
Thank you… so kind
It's very harmonious and peaceful - I like it. I feel like I want to see an area rug to define the sitting room area. Size-wise, I think it should be big enough to fit the entire coffee table as well as the front feet of the sofa and side chair.
Thank you for that! I have had 3 area rugs and not liked any. I had a natural jute, a white jute and an ivory/subtle black flowers… they are gone. The ivory next to the white sofa always looked dirty to me. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Yeah, off-white next to bright white has that effect. You could go for a bright white rug - maybe something extra fluffy or high-pile for texture. You could also try pulling in some of the pale sage green wall color.
Thank you! I’m always on the hunt!
I think a nice rug with pink to match your flowers and sage green would be beautiful and would really tie the space together
It would! I just have to find it! Thank you!
