Story idea time!
Here's a story idea that someone could run with:
After the dust of war has settled, the conquering army usually takes an inventory of what the opposition had fielded, what they lost, etc. With the vast differences between the many armed forces on the planet, as well as the 'undesirable' nature of the assignment, this process could take many years to ensure that an armed force like the United States isn't hiding a tank division in a desert somewhere.
So imagine the reaction when some Major in a dead end career posting finds a platform like an A-10 and realises that it is nothing more than a 30mm cannon with wings and engines!
TL : DR ... Gun go Brrrrt, Marine goes 'We can use that!'
